As the costs associated with disc storage and data transfer continue to drop, several internet service providers have managed to make their web hosting services available for free. In some cases, this space is provided in exchange for the provider placing ads on or above the hosted website to offset costs, while some providers now have ad-free hosting packages available also.
 
It's important to note, of course, that there are risks associated with free web hosting, in that some of the players in that market are short-lived. Others offer customer service that is poor or non-existent.
